Dell Volunteers - Winter 2012
Thanks to Team Watson from Dell for volunteering Jan 27. The four team members
completed 8 boxes containing 413 books for the 2012 libraries. We really
appreciate theirsupport and look forward to seeing them again.
Thanks goes to Jamie Costas, Wendy Ridgeway, Janet McLaughlin, and Roman
Zapata.
Nov. 20, 2011 - Bethany United Methodist's bake sale today raised $1,800 to pay for school lunches for the next year for the kids at Wambwa Primary. They have provided meals for 45 students for the past three years. These kids walk miles to school - and were spending the day without food.
Our sincere appreciation and thanks go to the congregation of Bethany Methodist, Sara Solomon for organizing the sale, and Barbara Cowman for staying through three services to sell.
Celebrating the creation of four new libraries
What an astonishing summer! Libraries of Love has completed four new
beautiful, well-stocked libraries serving 5,000 students. We are now providing books to over 30,000
students in 24 schools, thanks to our wonderful donors, volunteers, and
supporters. The librarian and headteacher (principal) meetings were an
amazing time of bonding. Plus, an unbelievable amount of
learning/teaching took place. Total successes! Walking onto campuses and
seeing children in classes, and sitting around the grounds reading
books, has been a joy. Those kids may never realize the immense amount
of time and effort required to provide those books, but they do
understand that they have books because people in America love them. Read more about the 2011 Libraries. Watch a video about the 2011 libraries.
